Everything's Retro - Triple Crown With Three Retrograde Planets April 2016

Writers live to writer and to rewrite - usually into infinity if we can get away with it - and April is a terrific month for indulging yourself in agonizing reappraisal. We have three, count 'em, three retrogrades.  April 17th Mars, our outgoing, warrior planet  whose can-do philosophy often makes the difference between a hit, or a miss for us, suddenly turns shy with moments of self-doubt as it turns retrograde in Sagittarius. Mars in The Archer's house is adventurous, but a little scattered. Mars' openness can easily translate to bluntness and a willingness to give too much information. If you suddenly find yourself waffling more than usual that's perfectly normal. Remember we all feel the effects of  retrogrades to one degree or another, but the effects are more significant if you have the retrograde planet, or the hosting sign prominently in your birth chart.

Martian energy is more circumspect during retrograde. While retrograde periods are not traditionally a good time to start new projects, don't let yourself become frozen with indecision because you fear making a choice. Simply engage your brain and rely more on the analytical side of your personality. Mars stays retro until June 29th, finishing the last part of its retrograde hiatus in Scorpio. Beware of poking under too many rocks when Mars moves back to Scorpio. An indecisive and frustrated retro Mars in Scorpio has misplaced their self-determination compass. We'll be a little more moody broody and our sting response will be set on automatic stun. Again, hit the pause button and analyze individual situations before responding to stimulus. You'll save yourself wear and tear, as well as preserve a lot of friendships.

On April 18th Pluto, that solar system vagabond of change, goes retro in Capricorn. Do I
here a sigh of relief? What's the matter, has all that crazy, Tilt-a-Whirl of change gotten out of hand for you? If you think so, you're not alone. Pluto hesitates during retrograde. Its reevaluation process asks us if every piece of chaotic change was absolutely necessary and if it yielded the desired goal. From April 18th through September 26th Pluto will be moving at a snail's pace to make us reexamine our choices. Where did they come from? Were they a result of baggage we are still determined to lug around with us forever? If Pluto retrograde has its way you'll be letting go of the things that hold you back before you start moving forward again in the Fall. Yes, it is a lengthy process working with Pluto Retrograde, but worth every moment of self-analysis.

Mercury in Taurus joins the retro party on April 28th, though with the other planets already well underway in their backwards journey, MR's influences may feel a bit indistinguishable from the rest of the retro energy. Stay patient when plans go awry, when calls get dropped and half of the free world misunderstands your latest tweet. Chuck it up to Mercury and remember your 'R' words: Revise, re-do, recommit, redesign, research, rewrite. The last two are my personal favorites.

Enjoy the gift of April's slow-down. Smell roses, drink tea, but most of all, take stock of your life, its direction and consider what you wish to change to become the best person you can be.

Mercury Moves to Pisces, March 12th While Saturn goes Retro March 14th – "Well-Chosen Words and Patience Yield Big Results"

There are times when each of us takes up the practice of oral podiatry, or in other words, the time honored custom of putting ones foot in ones mouth.  That’s when we must endure those awkward silences while others stare at us in disbelief and we long to smack our palm repeatedly against our foreheads. Luckily, we are periodically granted a reprieve from verbal idiocy when Mercury transits Pisces.

Mercury is our planet of communications and rules both

Gemini and Virgo.  Geminis are superb communicators, while Virgos add clarity and organization to the mix.  When Mercury moves into the realm of Pisces, however, our ability to communicate bumps up to an intuitive level and depending on how prominently Mercury figures in our birth chart, we have an instinctive advantage on how best to present ourselves in both spoken and written formats.  The right words will simply find us if we let them. Mercury remains in Pisces until April 14th, so take advantage of this opportunity to sell your ideas, tell your stories and speak persuasively with strength of purpose and with compassion.

On March 14th Saturn, the hall monitor of our solar system, goes retrograde.  Saturn’s job is to teach us by presenting challenges for us to overcome.  These tests are meant to inspire us and help us rise above and go beyond our self-imposed limits. They are  not meant to break us. Think about #7 in tarot’s major arcana, The Chariot, whose driver rises above the obstacles in his path.  Saturn currently resides in Sagittarius the Archer who specializes in seeking the truth. His pursuit is eventually rewarded as he comes to recognize the greatest truths and fully understand their complexities.  Archers have a great ability to focus and that requires insight and discipline.  Saturn’s challenge to us in the house of the archer is to learn patience.

Saturn retrograde offers us the opportunity to reflect on the

lessons we’ve learned, to take the wisdom we’ve garnered from our choices and internalize it.  This process serves to expand and enrich our lives.  After all, Jupiter, the planet of expansion, rules Sagittarius. Saturn goes direct in Scorpio on August 2nd, where it teaches us the lesson of using our power wisely, with discretion and to avoid gossip, both incoming and outgoing.

The tarot association to watch during these transits are #1, The Magician (Mercury) #18, The Moon (Pisces)  #21, The World, (Saturn)  #14, Temperance, (Sagittarius) and #13, Death and Transformation (Scorpio).  You may also find that #7, The Chariot (rising above and overcoming obstacles) and the 7 of Wands (holding your ground, or defending your position) have special significance in your readings, so pay attention.
Work proactively with the energies surrounding these celestial events and you will set the tempo for a sweet spring and summer.

December 8, 2014 – “Santa Claus Goes Retrograde”

Jupiter, the friendly giant of our solar system begins its

retrograde cycle today.  During Jupiter’s ramp-up for retrograde we began feeling the need to rein in our lives a little bit. We had a sense of having spent too long at the banquet table and began wishing for more Spartan fare. (Probably, in part, a reaction to all the dressing and gravy during Thanksgiving) Nationally and globally during Jupiter Retrograde there’s a sense of having too much information to process and that our gains as a species have come too fast and left us feeling a little hollow inside.

Our desire to slow down and take a serious look at the foundations of our lives is one of the best gifts we receive from our Santa Claus planet.  Jupiter governs the expansion of our worlds – another way of saying it provides us with the opportunities to grow.  Ruler of Sagittarius, Jupiter occupies a place in the ninth house of the zodiac. This where we store our philosophical and religious views, our relationship to the laws that govern our culture and our desires for travel. Jupiter entered Leo earlier this year, bringing us a powerful and charismatic energy to propel our lives forward.  No wonder you’re feeling a little overwhelmed.

Leo's card (of course) is #8 Strength.
From "Steampunk Tarot"© by Barbara
Moore and Aly Fell
Retrograde cycles are based on an optical illusion that as Earth overlaps a planet during its orbit of the Sun, the planet we pass appears to move backwards.  There’s a decrease, or even a slight reversal of the astrological benefits associated with the outdistanced planet.  Many people groan when they hear the word, ‘retrograde.’  They shouldn’t. Retrogrades are a natural part of the expansion and contraction process of the Universe – particularly Jupiter’s retrograde.  As the opportunities slow we have the chance to go inside ourselves and shore up our core beliefs and values.  If you’re going to build a skyscraper, you have to have a solid foundation.  That’s the purpose of Jupiter’s retrograde, to allow us the chance to reinforce the footings of our lives in preparation for the next surge forward.

Jupiter remains in retrograde until April 8, 2015.  Use this time as the opportunity it is.  Make your plans and make certain you have the support systems in place to set them in motion this April, because come this spring there will be whitecaps in the power waves rolling off Jupiter as it turns direct in Leo.  Be ready.

New Moon in Libra Delivers Balance and Drive

#11, Justice, or Breakthrough from
"OSHO Zen Tarot"© by Deva Padma
gives us the sense of how to work with
New Moon in Libra

This month's New Moon in 1 degree and 8 minutes of Libra continues the theme of establishing balance throughout our lives and in the world around us. New Moons set the emotional tone for the month and Libra provides an excellent tuning fork. Moon in Libra is a charming, romantic moon, with a strong intellectual component. Romance is a big factor, but our intellect decides where our boundaries are and any attractions we feel must engage our minds, as much, or even more so than our hearts.  Libra's energy creates a highly social dynamic, where our interactions are about honest communication and the drive to build harmony by deepening our understanding of others. That's a fairly intense combination.

Venus, the ruler of Libra gives this New Moon a glamorous
OSHO's #14 Integration also stands for
Temperance, Sagittarius' card
and sophisticated flavor.  This is a time to appreciate the arts and enjoy some of the finer things in life, to indulge in free thinking while staying grounded. New Moon in Libra is not an overly emotional moon. It is a moon of balance though, connecting equal parts for a sum much greater than the sum of the whole.  We have an equal connection to the elements of earth, sky, fire and water – more so now with the cosmic push for balance.  Air signs will likely see a greater increase in their mental keenness than other signs, while earth signs experience a stronger creative flair coupled with feelings of intense resolve.  Water signs draw on the moon's intuition while firmly grounding their imaginations through their intellect.  Fire signs, cry out for action – not for its own sake, but action with an eye towards completion.

OSHO Zen Tarot's© #16, "Thunder Bolt"
shows us the positive power unleashed
in an adaptation of "The Tower"
There are other factors to take into account during this New Moon.  Venus, ruler of Libra is residing in Virgo where she boosts the romantic flavor of this month's New Moon. There's also Mars in Sagittarius who carries a bold energy that's always on the lookout for an adventure. Left to its own devices Mars in Sagittarius remains a little unfocused. However, all the balancing and focusing power from Libra gives Mars a boost in the adventure department. One that will likely increase on September 25th when Jupiter trines Uranus (more on that later).

Consider the astrological significance of the following cards should they appear frequently in your readings:

The High Priestess      -  The Moon
Justice                          -   Libra
The Magician              -   Mercury (also in Libra now)
The Empress               -   Venus
The Hermit                  -   Virgo
The Tower                   -   Mars (let's watch this planet during the next few days)

Temperance               -   Sagittarius
Wheel of Fortune       -   Jupiter
Uranus                         -   The Fool

Enjoy the benefits of a strong Moon in Libra. It's here to facilitate our artistry as well as our intellect, our imaginations, as well as of practical natures.  This is a time to balance and restore order so we can prepare for the power surges of October.

Full Moon in Sagittarius, Friday, June 13th – “For a Good Time, Call....”

A Full Moon in Sagittarius embraces life.  I’d go so far as to say, it embodies life.  The lunar influence is extremely strong in the sign of The Archer where it engenders adventure, luck and expansive thinking.  Sagittarius rules the ninth house, the seat of higher learning and philosophy.  If Mercury in Gemini is a quick mind, then Full Moon in Sagittarius is a perpetual lightening-round of intellect.

Moon in Sagittarius sees life in Cinemascope, briskly taking in information from all senses and rapidly formulating a plan for action. This Full Moon compels activity because The Archer is a fire sign.  Think about tarot’s suit of Wands – a perfect road map for Sagittarius. ( See blog: “Lights, Camera, Action” ) Ace is Archer’s spark of inspiration, or awareness. Two of Wands is the call to adventure, that irresistible urge to look past the familiar and see potential. Seize the Three of Wands and, like Sagittarius, you’re heading off to see what’s past the horizon. June’s Full Strawberry Moon is a moon of believers and achievers.

At lot is being made of the fact that Friday’s Full Moon falls on

the 13th.  Cue organ music and mist.  Here’s the deal.  Like Sagittarius we must take a look at the big picture.   June’s Full Moon occurs at 4:14 GMT on the 13th.  That means if you live in America, your Full Moon occurs on at 12:11 a.m. ET on June 13th. All other American time zones have a Full Moon on June 12th. Sorry guys.  Numerically, June 13, 2014 adds up to eight.  In tarot, eights are about movement.  (See blog: “Crazy Eights” ) This theme is spot on for Full Moon in Sagittarius regardless of whether you live on the east coast, west coast, or somewhere between.  Look for movement in your life from the 11th to the 15th.  There will be incoming messages and events that can spark positive changes for you, if you let them.

Moon in Sag people (that’s all of us to a certain extent during this Full Moon period) are the life of the party. They are out-going, witty and are not only found at the center of the action – they’ve usually started the action in the first place.  During this Full Moon weekend look for spontaneous gatherings.  If you’re meeting friends for drinks, don’t be surprised if people you don’t even know pull up chairs to your table, or you, quiet out of character, do the same.  Don’t look for passionate love this weekend.  Sagittarius is about answering that personal call to adventure, although you may find someone whose affinity for escapades matches your own. If you wish to participate in someone else’s grand scheme, that’s great, but The Archer’s influence makes us more willing to go it alone if no one is inclined to join our quest.

Sarasvati represents the High Priestess, tarot's
association for Lady Moon. From Kris Waldherr's
"The Goddess Tarot"©
Lest this Full Moon sound too perfect, let me give you a couple of minor warnings.  Sagittarius has a tendency to not simply speak the truth, but blurt it, warts and all.  Use diplomacy.  If you don’t, you risk a red face next week and having to repeat, “I’m so sorry, I don’t know what made me say that to you,” over and over and over.  Also, Moon in Sagittarius tends to believe in the absolute triumph of its own luck – and this is a lucky Moon, no doubt.  However, avoid leaving everything up to random chance.  Proceed with a purpose, fully informed and with mental clarity.  Watch out for over-spending. Moon in Sag pushes its exuberance for life towards excess from time to time.  Live for the experience this weekend instead of for possessions and you’ll be fine.

Full Moon in Sagittarius brings a gift of seeing the scope of your own life and recognizing its potential.  Take action, no matter how small.  Small acts, carefully combined, can change the direction of a planet.  Be brilliant.

Full Cold Moon in Gemini, December 17, 2013 - “Party in the House”

# 6 The Lovers, is tarot's association for
Gemini.  This depiction is from Ciro Marchetti's
"Legacy of the divine Tarot"©

December’s Full Cold Moon in Gemini should be called, “The Party Moon.”  Sociable Gemini joins party hound Sagittarius and the wild rumpus begins.  Okay, maybe not that wild, but this month’s Full Cold Moon (No need to explain that name, is there?) is everything fun, frolicking and social.

Gemini is an air sign in the

mutable (changeable) modality. This simply means that because the sign of Gemini falls at the end of a season rather than at the beginning, (cardinal) or in the middle (fixed), some of its traits shift with the changing astral and seasonal influences.  Our Twins govern the third house of the Zodiac where we keep our knowledge, our habitat (neighborhood) and the relationships we don’t choose, like siblings, or neighbors. The third house, and therefore Gemini, are ruled by the planet Mercury, governor of intellect and communication.  All this makes next week the optimum time to network and socialize.  Your ideas will be easier to convey to others and in turn, other people will have an easier time envisioning how your concept works for their world.

Sun in Sagittarius opposes Moon in Gemini, creating this

month’s Full Cold Moon.  Sagittarius and Gemini love a good party and they help us naturally gravitate to where the action is.  While both of these signs enjoy the continual stimulation of new events, Gemini holds a duality that can cause its quick laughter and quicker wit to turn dark in the blink of an eye.  Luckily, Sagittarius prevents The Twins from indulging in too much emotional analysis, or too many mood swings.

We have Uranus in Aires turning stationary direct on the 17th as well.  Stationary refers to the illusion that a planet remains in place before it appears to reverse its orbit.  Prior to retrograde we have ‘stationary retrograde’ and when the planet turns direct again we have, ‘stationary direct.’  Uranus works well with Mercury’s thought process, making us ask the deeper questions (which Sagittarius likes).  You can expect a couple of ‘a-ha’ moments before the end of the month.  Consider it partying with a purpose.

#10 The Wheel shows us Jupiter's
generous nature in the "Steampunk Tarot"©
 depiction
Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, continues to exert its expansive influence for the Full Moon.  The Santa Claus planet goes sesquiquadrate  (a rather touchy aspect of 135 degrees and quite a mouthful) with Neptune on the 17th .  Although this is a lesser aspect than a trine, or sextile, it still introduces the element of dreams and wishes into the Full Moon fix.  Holiday magic. Neptune is the planet of dreams and dreamers.  Jupiter may drop some unexpected sugarplums in your lap this season.  Just be careful not to let a mistletoe moment go to your head.

This is a fun, high-energy moon that helps us manifest the goals we set in motion at the beginning of this month.  Consider December’s Full Moon a holiday gift from the Universe.  Enjoy!

Sagittarius, November 22nd to December 22nd - “Arrows of Outrageous Fortune”

#14 Temperance is tarot's card
for Sagittarius From Barbara Moore
and Aly Fell's "Steampunk Tarot"©
People born under the sign of Sagittarius, the Archer, are inquisitive by nature.  That’s inquisitive with a capital ‘I.’ They seek answers to the great mysteries of life and are fiercely independent.  Sagittarians are born students and wanderers who fascinate us with their natural optimism and philosophical nature.  No party or gathering is complete without them because they charge the atmosphere with their exuberance.   Stand back and watch a Sagittarius shoot a metaphorical arrow and no matter how difficult the terrain, they will follow its path to wherever it falls.

The Zodiac’s ninth house is home to Sagittarius. This is the place that guides our social lives, our education, as well as our penchants for philosophy and travel.  Sagittarians thrive on change, embracing new experiences with boundless enthusiasm.  They are students of life who become restless if they stay in one place, or situation too long,  They are constantly looking down the road for the next adventure. For them, experience is not only the best teacher, it’s their life’s blood as well.

The Archer likes to avoid commitment – even with the small

things in life like choosing a bath mat or furniture.  Commitment, however mundane, equals strings for a Sagittarius and being tied to one place or situation hinders the footloose lifestyle they prefer.  Are they capable of lasting relationships?  You bet they are. However, they are a fire sign in the mutable modality (adaptive, changeable) and other fire signs who are equally adventurous are their best partners – Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.  Think, Doctor Who traveling through the universe with his best companion ever.  If this image makes you envious then you are the perfect mate for Sagittarius.

The workaday Sag is a born achiever.  Remember, life is an adventure for them and they take any opportunity to explore it with skill and optimism.  They make excellent lawyers, communications specialists, marketing consultants, sales professionals and photographers (no surprise – they love to capture a moment for later reflection). They excel at presentations like none other.  They are not so great at teaching because they expect the same level of excitement, adaptability and curiosity from their students as they, themselves experience when embracing a new subject.  They are honest to the point of bluntness and can be impatient with those who don’t catch on quickly.  Rule of thumb: If you can’t think on your feet, or adapt quickly to a game change, don’t work closely with a Sagittarius.  If however, if you are innovative, far-sighted and love the excitement of the moment, sit yourself down with your new best friend, lover, or co-worker.  If you're lucky, all of the aforementioned.

The universe awaits for Sagittarius, with all its
'timey-whimey' adventures!
Sagittarians are deep thinking adventurers.  They are among the early adopters in our culture – not for the sake of newness itself, but because the new must be explored.  We need adventurers in our lives and in our society.  They show us possibilities and inspire us to dream.  Think of Sagittarius as you seek out new opportunities in your own life and embrace the change.

Astrological Trends, November 2013 – "Turning Inward to Correct the Extreme"

The Empress rules Venus and with good reason.
She's grace, beauty, abundance and charm.
From "Steampunk Tarot"© by Barbara Moore
and Aly Fell

So far the November skies have been dominated by Scorpio.  This month’s energy has been deep, magnetic; filled with passionate emotion and mystery much like the infamous Zodiac sign itself.  Scorpio’s influence can make us soar like an eagle, or strike out in confusion and sting those around us.  The eighth house, residence of the scorpion, is the most intense place in the Zodiac.  It’s here where the mysteries of life, birth and death are stored.  (See Blog: “Sun In Scorpio”) The beginning of this month hasn’t been for the faint of heart.  We’ve had challenges: A powerful yod, the exact squaring of Uranus and Pluto and a New Moon with a hybrid solar eclipse attached to it. That’s only been in the first three days. ( See Blog: “New Moon in Scorpio" )

On November 5th Venus enters Capricorn where she stays until March 5th of 2014.  Beautiful Venus, becomes very grounded in Capricorn, embracing the practical in her nature. There’s very little fun and flirty energy here.  She wants us to seek loyal, honest partnerships that support us.  Venus expects to see proof of a deep, committed love before allowing us to give our hearts completely.  Once we have our proof though, Venus in Capricorn says this relationship is for keeps, so act accordingly.

Jupiter, the Santa Claus of the solar system, goes retrograde
#10, The Wheel rules Jupiter
and shows us how the turn of fate
expands our world one way or another.
Also from "Steampunk Tarot"©
on November 7th. This is the biggest change in astrological template this month and one of the most significant until early spring of 2014.  Jupiter carries an expansive energy when it’s direct.  Prior to its actual retrograde period there will be a general feeling of too much of a good thing.  Societally, individually and bureaucratically, there will be a sense that we’ve over-shot the mark, become too bloated and extreme in some ways.  Jupiter retrograde says slow down, perhaps even halt the expansion process outwardly to turn inside and work on inner growth.  Use #9, The Hermit as a focus for mediations. Also contemplate the Four of Swords to ease an overly busy mind.

Consider that if we don’t build a strong, inner support system, either personally or as a society, we are doomed to collapse in on ourselves.  It’s time to relearn (‘r’ word) the value of middle ground and release behaviors and ideals that have become too extreme, or too top-heavy to pass the tests of time and adversity.  Jupiter asks us to take our expansion inside to grow our consciousness, as well as our capacity for inner truth and compassion.  We can’t continue to expand our world unless we do a little inner re-tooling.  Again, we see the recurring theme for November of transforming and becoming something greater than the sum of the whole – synergy. Jupiter will be in retrograde until March 6, 2014.

#17, The Star is both hope and promise.
We can blend the elements of our world
for a successful life through the habit
of conscious living. From "Steampunk Tarot"©
Other high points this month include Mercury going direct on the 10th with Neptune following suit on the 13th. Chiron, our wounded healer also goes direct on the 19th just before the Sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd.  Our Full Moon in Taurus occurs on November 17th and Venus goes conjunct Pluto in Capricorn.  Pluto also squares off against Uranus in Aires as well. Whew!  There’s lots happening this month and most of it is set against the backdrop of Scorpio’s transformative energy.  This is a tremendous opportunity to ready ourselves for Jupiter’s expansion in the Spring.  I’ll be discussing the significance of the rest of these events as they draw closer. In the meantime, you have your assignments. Use the energy of early November to release, review, renew and revamp your thoughts and goals in preparation for a powerful Full Moon in Taurus.

Houses of the Zodiac - “Living in a Cosmic Subdivision”

Astrology, like any other field, has lots of buzz words and jargon.
The Star, from
Barbara Moore and Aly Fell's
Steampunk Tarot©
Understanding the concepts represented by these words not only deepens our understanding of astrology, but also our appreciation for the three demential form of the Zodiac.  As we know, there are twelve signs that represent thirty degrees of the Zodiac’s wheel.  We also know that there are twelve houses and each one of them is ruled by a particular sign.  For example, Aries rules the first house and Pisces rules the twelfth.

Each house governs a specific area of life and is grouped into one of three categories: Angular, Succedent and Cadent.  Angular houses show us the strongest influences on our lives. Succedent houses represent our resources such as our friends, skill set, possessions, etc.  Last, but certainly intriguing, are Cadent houses.  These houses represent our human experience in terms of relationships, growth and transitions.

Ciro Marchetti's depiction of The Star
from Legacy of the Divine Tarot©
These house categories also correspond to the three modalities of signs: cardinal (first sign of each season), fixed (mid-season signs) and mutable (the ending or transitional sign for a season).  All this sounds pretty complicated, doesn’t it?  Many of us are content to simply know our birth sign and to read our horoscope every now and then.  Nothing wrong with that at all. Still, isn’t it nice to understand just a tiny portion more of what astrologers take into consideration when mapping a birth chart?

Below is a handy, dandy chart of houses, their category, ruling sign, sign modality, ruling planetary body and tarot associations.  Check you out and enjoy!

Full Flower Moon, May 24th - 25th, 2013 - Adventure, Romance and a Penumbral Eclipse

The actual date for this month’s Full Moon changes according to your time zone.  In England the moon is full on May 25th at 4:27, GMT/UT (Greenwich Mean Time, or Universal Time) and in New York, it’s full at 12:24 a.m. EST, also on May 25th.  Here in the Pacific Northwest, however, our Flower Moon comes into full blossom at 9:24 p.m. on May 24th.  (Here's a link to the annual Portland Rose Festival - also 5/24/13! )

May’s Full Flower Moon occurs at 4 degrees and 8 minutes in Sagittarius and promises to be adventurous and fast-paced.  Sagittarius, like Gemini, is known for mental acuity, but depth wise, these signs are at opposite ends of the spectrum.  Sagittarius is a high-minded, intuitive sign.  Gemini likes their wisdom to be quick and amusing, but without much substance.  What both of these signs have in common, though, is an adventurous streak and lots of social energy.  It’s little wonder they are so powerful in opposition - Moon in Sagittarius and Sun in Gemini. Take time to brush up on your banter and your current events before this weekend.  Naps wouldn’t hurt either.

Lunar eclipses focus on relationships, the beginning and ending of cycles and on finding balance between extremes.  Intuitive Sagittarius may ask if your relationship is all you wish it to be, while liberated Gemini, playing host to Venus, may tell you to act on your flights of fancy. Emotions run high during the eclipse and Venus is both care-free and flirtatious under Gemini’s influence.  Sagittarius, who also appreciates visceral experience, seeks adventures that have less chance of blowing up in your face.  Strive to balance these polarities during the Flower Moon.  Also remember that an eclipse in extremely powerful two days before and three days after the actual event.

Jupiter and Mercury are visiting Gemini as well during this eclipse.  Mercury, the planet of communication gives us the chance to be open and honest with our friends and partners.  It also gifts us with a silver tongue, perfect for charming or persuading those around us.  Jupiter puts a capital ‘A’ in adventure, easing our way socially and intellectually in a variety of situations.

May’s Full Flower Moon has something for everyone.  It has the chops for magnificent abundance work, adventure, social and romantic opportunities, with just a dash of perseverance from Mars in Taurus.  You could say that Saturn in Scorpio and the Uranus Pluto Square are waiting in the wings to throw the proverbial bucket of cold water on us, but I don’t think so.  Both of these configurations love portents and challenges, but when you think about it, all they are really asking us to do is stay present in the moment, to pay attention and be genuine.  If something feels hinkey, it probably is, so act accordingly and steer clear. that's good advice anytime.   Go out and have a wonderful Full Moon weekend.  Stay present in the moment and enjoy.

Full Moon Eclipse November 28th, 2012

November’s full moon arrives on the 28th at 9:47 a.m., EST - two days after Mercury turns direct.  Hallelujah!  The November full moon, or the second full moon after the Fall Equinox, is called the Full Beaver Moon (No snickering from the kids in the back, please).  Historically, this was the time of year Native Americans set their traps for beaver, who become very active in the late fall. November’s full moon is sometimes called the Frost Moon, as well.

After all the dire warnings we’ve had during the past few full moon cycles, it’s going to be nice to have a full moon that is relatively uncomplicated and just darn right fun.  Our full moon this month is in six degrees Gemini, in opposition to a Sagittarian sun.  This means that while Gemini asks you to use logic and reason to solve a problem, Sagittarius nudges you in the ribs and says, “Come on.  Think outside the box.”
The Gemini moon is about communications and attitude.  We also have a lunar eclipse occurring at the same time and remember, eclipses have the power of 10 full moons.  You can expect to receive extra power kick to the already boosted organizing and accomplishing drive we have from Mars visiting Capricorn.

Sparkling conversation and witty remarks are the hallmarks of this full moon cycle.  Consider hosting an afterwork soirée with good wine and friends who always have something thought-provoking to say.  You might also round up your friends and drop by your favorite bistro.  The 28th is definitely an evening for good food and good cheer.  Think of it as a cosmic kickoff to the holiday season.

In terms of tarot, the number for the 28th is 8  (11 + 28 + 2012 = 8).

Major Arcana # 8     =       Strength: compassion, coping, the ability to act
                                          powerfully, yet calmly

8 of Wands              =       movement, a message or proposal, timing

8 of Cups                =        leaving a situation or relationship that is completed
                                         and going to something better

8 of Swords            =      self-imposed restraint, or limitations

8 of Pentacles        =      task mastery, development of work skills and discipline for
the sake of the job itself, immersion in work

Enjoy our Gemini moon.  She heralds some interesting high points for the December holiday season.
