Venus in Aires February 20, 2015 – "Come Feel the Warrior in Love"

The sign of Aires carries the energy of firsts – first in line, first to discover, first to start again.  It is the first sign of the Zodiac and from its position in our birth charts we derive our concept of self, as well as our personality.  Aires' symbol is a ram and there's no question as to why that is.  Powerhouse Aires likes to lead the way and has no room for half measures.  Aires embraces its character traits and blazes a trail by effectively using whatever planetary energy comes to hand.  On February 20th fair Venus entered dominant, male Aires and the wild rumpus began.

hard when her romantic interest is sparked. Sparked?  More like spontaneously combusts.  When Venus transits Aires there's much more leaping than looking and in the cold light of reason the results of that high dive can leave a lot to be desired.  A sleek body, a winning smile and a great wardrobe cover a multitude of sins as far as Venus in Aires in concerned, so if you have this transit prominently in your birth chart, or were born under the Sign of the Ram ( a particularly tawdry, late 40's black and white, B movie, by the way) you can find yourself transfixed by passion and romance with very little substance.  Venus in Aires does not always love wisely, but certainly loves well.

One note of caution:  Since Aires likes to be first place in virtually everything it touches there can be some egocentric behaviors attached to this transit.  Remember that healthy love doesn't impose or dominate.  It supports, joins, emboldens and enhances.

An astounding deck!
The tarot cards to watch in your readings during the Venus in Aires transit are the suit of Cups (naturally), in particular, the Queen as she is intensely focused in her passions, as well as the 2 of Cups (relationships).  Also watch the Major Arcana cards, #6, The Lovers, #3, The Empress (Venus' card), #4, The Emperor (Aires' card), #16, The Tower (tarot association for Mars, the ruler of Aires) and last but still important, #18, The Moon (for those romantic illusions). Happy shuffling!

signs.  Scorpio is top of my list of favorites.  Good thing too.  It’s my birth sign.  Being our own fan may very well be a Scorpion trait.  We do nothing in half measures.  We’ve been called a complex, broody sign that turns lethal in an instant. Frankly, it takes longer than an instant.  We are fiercely loyal, highly motivated, but we can hold a grudge like none other.

Scorpio rules the eighth house of the Zodiac which stores the energy of birth, death, transformation and sex. Busy place.  It’s also the home of shared resources.  Rather a volatile home for the resources of a planet, mind you.  Scorpio is a water sign in the fixed modality.  That means that our emotions run deep, as does our intuition and our spirituality. As a fixed sign, our traits are constant and reliable. We carry yin, or feminine energy as seen by our intuitive and transformative skills.

#13 Death (Transformation) is their ruling card.

The world is black and white to a Scorpion. There is no gray area – fifty shades, or otherwise.  We learned our moral lessons as children and took their simple truths to heart. What often seems like a simple matter of bending a rule, or manipulating a situation to some, poses a huge, moral dilemma for Scorpio.  We talk a glib game, but
right is right and we prefer a more mystical, or intuitive approach to persuade others.  Think of it as wearing feathery, bedroom mules as opposed to combat boots.

We are intense, highly motivated creatures – determined folk,

who are not quitters.  Our love of secrets and the mysterious comes from the primal forces ruled by the eighth house. Scorpio is blessed with two, count ‘em, two, ruling planets:  Mars, the warrior planet, who carries physical energy and courage, and Pluto, who carries the ability to deconstruct, regenerate and transform. (That’s right. One of my ruling planets has the same powers as Dr. Who.)  We are resourceful and independent, loyal and passionate.  Still, with all these marvelous attributes, why are we so often considered the bad kids of the Zodiac?  Perhaps it’s because we can also be jealous, obsessive, unyielding and vindictive.  Okay, so who doesn’t have their faults?

An injured Scorpion is a curious thing.  We will come back from adversity transformed and stronger than ever (Mars, the warrior and Pluto the regenerator).  We are not motivated to seek reprisals by vanity, or by consequence, as other signs can be.  We seek reprisals for moral reasons – even if those morals are personal to us and slightly askew at that.  Scorpio never forgets a kindness, nor do we forget an injustice.  Should you inadvertently hurt our feelings, of course we will overlook it a first, or even a second time, but God help you on the third.

If you are a child of the Scorpion remember that you carry serious chops and you can’t take them lightly.  We have the uncanny ability to adapt at will, to bloom in the desert as well as in the rain forest.  We can choose to focus our energies on positive life changes and when we do the sky is the limit.

Venus in Scorpio, Sept. 10th & 11th to Oct. 7th - “Endless Love”

The Empress, ruling tarot card for
Venus from the RWCS deck by US Games

September’s astrology heats up as Venus moves into the sign of Scorpio during the wee hours (2:16 a.m. EDT) of the 11th, or on the west coast, the waning hours (11:12 p.m. PDT) of the 10th.  We all feel some effect from this transit, but those of us who have Venus in Scorpio in our birth chart get an extra energetic kick.  This Venus transit speaks to us of passion and sparks our quest for that often elusive creature, the soulmate.

Venus in Scorpio isn’t simply passion
Death or, Transformation - intense but not as scary as
you think.  This is Scorpio's ruling card.

for the sake of great sex. (Although, who’s complaining about that?) This energy is colored a deep, almost purple shade of red – an intense emotion that while it both excites and incites us, can be almost painful in its fervor.  The practical side of Venus still wants the security found in a solid partnership, however. While the passionate setting designed by Scorpio can be distracting, Venus will ultimately remain true to her quest for a solid relationship.

Scorpio is the darker side of the equation here – and nobody does darker better than an ungrounded Scorpion.  Those of us in relationships, particularly those of us with Scorpio in our birth charts may find we are more possessive of our partners than usual, leaning more towards jealous and brooding.  Check these impulses because no one wants to feel controlled and manipulated in a relationship.  Take a step back and center yourself to avoid projecting your issues on someone else.

The tarot association for the Venus in Scorpio transit is the Seven of Cups.  This is a tarot card of great potential and infinite possibilities that have yet to manifest.  The seven objects appear before the dreamer out of the ether.  What will he choose?  What would you choose?  There’s a two-fold lesson in this card.  While you have many options open to you nothing solid has materialized at this time.  Also, although it is important to choose wisely, i.e. make an informed choice, it is just as important to understand why you make the choices you make.  Consider this card’s meaning in your own life as you negotiate the Venus in Scorpio transit.
