August 25, 2014, New Moon in Virgo – “A Fresh Start and Self-Determination”

This Monday morning, at 7:13 a.m., we birthed a New Moon
The Hermit represents Virgo, living
its truth. This card from "Steampunk

in Virgo.  ( You may have felt that ol’  dark of the Moon last night - I did. See blog:
“I Feel a Dark Moon Rising” )  New Moons establish a new tempo for the lunar cycle ahead. They provide a fresh start and this one says clear the clutter.  New Moon in Virgo gives us an opportunity to sort out what serves us in life, to cast off what doesn’t, and to put our remaining resources to work for us. Virgo Moons move us forward because they like practical application and routines becomes our happy place.

The Moon represents the emotional component in our lives and Virgo does a nice job of balancing that energy with analytical thinking because Virgo thinks through feelings. It analyses events and people, particularly now while Mars is conjunct (same place, same time) with Saturn in Scorpio. Conjunctions are about new planetary cycles and this one works well with New Moon in Virgo. Saturn in Scorpio analyses people, then runs a mental checklist to determine if they fit in the resource, or the recycle category.  The decision is not arbitrary. Saturn in Scorpio is also insightful and where Mars in Scorpio is a goal-driven warrior style of energy, Saturn in Scorpio in more circumspect.

This New Moon in Virgo is an excellent time to start a new project, whether it’s work related, or simply something creative and fun.  Neptune opposes our Virgo Moon and softens Virgo’s obsession with nit-picky details and perfection.  Neptune’s dreamy influence also eases the Virgo Moon’s tendency towards fretting.

This New Moon directs us to set things in motion.  It’s a great kickstart as we wrap up the summer and prepare to return to our more formal autumn schedules.  Think about what serves you, what you wish to take with you on the next leg of this year’s journey, and what you would be wise to leave behind.

June 27, 2014, New Moon in Cancer – "A Terrific Night For A Moon Dance"

Sarasvati is the goddess Kris Waldherr chose
as #2, The High Priestess for her
wonderful "The Goddess Tarot"©, tarot's
card for Lady Moon
Our lunar reboot occurs on June 27th at 1:08 a.m., PDT in five degrees and thirty-seven minutes of Cancer.  This is terrific, because the Moon rules Cancer and is exalted during its passage through this sign.  Exalted, you say? Yup.  A planetary body (and the Moon falls within this category for the sake of astrology) that’s exalted has a purer, more direct form of its natural energy and characteristics.  This all adds up to a powerhouse of a New Moon whose energy can be used to reaffirm our commitment to our life path, goals and projects.

While Mercury’s retrograde has had us reviewing, revamping and rethinking decisions, Neptune’s retrograde pattern has connected us more strongly to our mystic and spiritual sides.  This New Moon gives us the opportunity to adopt the strategies and philosophies we’ve been contemplating during Mercury Retrograde.  Our intellect (Mercury in Gemini),  our emotions (New Moon in Cancer), and our spirit (Neptune in Pisces) are in harmony.  Also, the New Moon on the 27th trines Neptune, giving us a super charge of mystical energy.  Use that intuition.  Allow all that amazing creativity you feel within you to flow free.  Set your plans so you can hit the ground running when Mercury turns direct on July 1st.  Then get out of your own way and watch your dreams manifest during the next thirty days.  The theme for this New Moon, like the tarot association for Cancer, The Chariot, is 'up and over.'

Rhiannon represents #7 The Chariot,
Cancer's tarot association. From
Kris Waldherr's "The Goddess Tarot"©
People with Moon in Cancer in their birth chart, or those born under the sign of Cancer  feel the effects of this New Moon more strongly, however Venus in Gemini lends  stability to the strong, emotional currents our favorite crustaceans might feel swirling around them.  Remember, this will be a New Moon with deep, meaningful subtext, both spiritual and emotional.  It’s important to stay focused on where you want to be in life and who you wish to have with you – friends, co-workers, or partners.

The power of June’s New Moon is a great opportunity to rise above that sense stagnation we’ve endured with Cardinal Crosses and so forth earlier this year.  Work with this new emotional template for the coming lunar cycle and you’ll amaze yourself.

New Moon In Pisces, March 1, 2014 – “Hopeful Romantic”

#2 The High Priestess rule the Moon
From Rome Choi's delectable
"Dreamingway Tarot"©

Our first New Moon for March occurs in ten degrees, thirty-nine minutes of the sign, Pisces the Fish.  Pisces is a compassionate and romantic sign.  It is the sign of artists and dreamers. Pierre-Auguste Renoir, John Steinbeck and Kurt Cobain were all Pisces.  Fish folk are a sensitive breed and as all water signs, they are emotionally complex. Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet of dreams and illusion and one of the reasons this New Moon is particularly strong is because Neptune resides in its home sign now.

New Moons represent the beginning of a fresh emotional

cycle. They enhance our vision of goals and dreams. When it comes to envisioning those dreams, there’s no New Moon stronger for that than a New Moon in Pisces.  The bond between water, lunar light and emotions is intense under Pisces, yet very romantic.  On the plus side, your sympathies are easily engaged.  You want to help. You forgive quickly, but the downside is that you are highly sensitive. People and situations you would normally find taxing are capable of delivering serious emotional blows now.  Try to ignore the emotions you experience in this type of situation and consider their source. Who really owns the problem?  Still, on March 1st love is in the air and it’s a good time for a little apres Valentine’s romance.

This New Moon carries powerful intuitive energy that can be used for setting intentions and manifesting work.  We’re closing in on the first quarter of 2014.  What’s working for you?  What do want more of in your life?  These are good questions to contemplate.  Look for particularly powerful meditations on March 1st.   Keep it real as you set intentions under this New Moon, however.  Neptune dwells in illusion as does the shadowy Moon.  Don’t allow yourself to get swept up in daydreams or mental hyperbole.  Remember: Real, measurable, attainable – those are the keys to successful goal setting.

Pisces tarot card, #18, The Moon
Don't be swept away by illusion
RWCS by US Games©
Jupiter squaring Uranus will add an interesting side note to this New Moon.  Jupiter is also considered a ruler of Pisces because that’s what it did before Neptune was discovered.  While Jupiter is expansive, Neptune in Pisces is a little secretive and likes to play things close to the vest.  This can lead to feelings of conflict for people born under Pisces, who have Moon in Pisces, or Neptune prominently in their birth chart. Just breathe and keep moving. The energy patterns for early 2014 don’t support stagnation.

Water represents emotions and spirituality in tarot.  It is also the element connected to the suit of Cups.  Although emotion runs high during a New Moon in Pisces, so do spirituality and intuition.  This is a working Moon, mean that the energy flows like water and is particularly easy to access.  Sure there are going to be whitecaps, but remember your tools. Try not to take thing personally, consider the source of your emotions, meditate frequently and when all else fails, breathe and let go.

Typecasting – Sorting Our Astrological Planets to Type

In the field of astrology all planetary bodies are sorted by type. There are the inner
planets: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars.  Although the Sun is a star and the Moon, our satellite, they are considered planetary bodies in astrology.  There are also outer planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

Inner planets all have one feature in common.  It takes them less than two years to complete their respective orbits.  Yes, we orbit the Sun, but remember that astrology is what’s happening in the Heavens from Earth’s perspective.  Inner planets are also called ‘personal planets.’  Their influence over us is much different from the outer bank of planets simply because inner planets bebop through our signs much more frequently.

Their are two types of outer planets as well: Transitional planets and generational planets.  Jupiter and Saturn are transitional bodies, while Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are generational.  Jupiter, the planet of optimism, success, and generosity; i.e. the Santa Claus Planet, completes its orbit roughly every twelve years. This confident giant transits signs at the rate of one per year and astrologers look here for our opportunities to develop and become successful. Saturn, on the other hand, takes approximately twenty-nine and a half years to circle the Zodiac.  Saturn is where our lifetime achievement award is housed.  While Jupiter offers a closeup of our opportunities, Saturn shows us what we’ve accomplished and the lessons we’ve learned along the way.  Saturn is about rules, responsibilities, self-discipline and lasting achievement.  It’s also about the journey towards our goals and how we overcome obstacles to gain self-respect and security.

The notorious Saturn Return occurs about every thirty years
for each of us as Saturn returns to our birth sign.  During Saturn Return we are offered special challenges that are meant to move our lives forward and help us attain the things we yearn for whether we’ve admitted their existence or not.  Saturn Returns are pivot points in our lives.  We can make extraordinary advancements and set off in entirely new directions during its influence.

Generational planets are the slowest moving planets of all
and because their transits are so lengthy, their influence colors an entire generation.  Uranus take eighty-four years to complete an orbit – Neptune, 165 years.  Pluto is the winner for being last.  Its orbit takes 248 years.  Uranus transits at the rate of seven years per sign.  Neptune takes thirteen and three-quarters years to move from sign to sign, but Pluto takes an astounding twenty and two-thirds years to cross each sign.  Pluto’s influence in a particular sign is felt from cradle to adulthood, while Neptune’s reach only extends to adolescence.  Uranus carries a more rhythmic cycle of a seven year transit per sign.  Perhaps that’s the origins of the term, ‘seven year itch.’ After all, Uranus is the planet originality and unexpected change.  While Uranus challenges authority, Neptune relates to the mystical and Pluto assists in our transformation.

Astrology is a vast and complex system for analyzing the positions of heavenly bodies and the patterns of their influence on our lives.  Just when you think you’ve gotten a handle on what it really means, you turn the page in a book and discover a whole other level that has to be considered – but then again, that’s life, isn’t it?

Full Cold Moon in Gemini, December 17, 2013 - “Party in the House”

# 6 The Lovers, is tarot's association for
Gemini.  This depiction is from Ciro Marchetti's
"Legacy of the divine Tarot"©

December’s Full Cold Moon in Gemini should be called, “The Party Moon.”  Sociable Gemini joins party hound Sagittarius and the wild rumpus begins.  Okay, maybe not that wild, but this month’s Full Cold Moon (No need to explain that name, is there?) is everything fun, frolicking and social.

Gemini is an air sign in the

mutable (changeable) modality. This simply means that because the sign of Gemini falls at the end of a season rather than at the beginning, (cardinal) or in the middle (fixed), some of its traits shift with the changing astral and seasonal influences.  Our Twins govern the third house of the Zodiac where we keep our knowledge, our habitat (neighborhood) and the relationships we don’t choose, like siblings, or neighbors. The third house, and therefore Gemini, are ruled by the planet Mercury, governor of intellect and communication.  All this makes next week the optimum time to network and socialize.  Your ideas will be easier to convey to others and in turn, other people will have an easier time envisioning how your concept works for their world.

Sun in Sagittarius opposes Moon in Gemini, creating this

month’s Full Cold Moon.  Sagittarius and Gemini love a good party and they help us naturally gravitate to where the action is.  While both of these signs enjoy the continual stimulation of new events, Gemini holds a duality that can cause its quick laughter and quicker wit to turn dark in the blink of an eye.  Luckily, Sagittarius prevents The Twins from indulging in too much emotional analysis, or too many mood swings.

We have Uranus in Aires turning stationary direct on the 17th as well.  Stationary refers to the illusion that a planet remains in place before it appears to reverse its orbit.  Prior to retrograde we have ‘stationary retrograde’ and when the planet turns direct again we have, ‘stationary direct.’  Uranus works well with Mercury’s thought process, making us ask the deeper questions (which Sagittarius likes).  You can expect a couple of ‘a-ha’ moments before the end of the month.  Consider it partying with a purpose.

#10 The Wheel shows us Jupiter's
generous nature in the "Steampunk Tarot"©
 depiction
Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, continues to exert its expansive influence for the Full Moon.  The Santa Claus planet goes sesquiquadrate  (a rather touchy aspect of 135 degrees and quite a mouthful) with Neptune on the 17th .  Although this is a lesser aspect than a trine, or sextile, it still introduces the element of dreams and wishes into the Full Moon fix.  Holiday magic. Neptune is the planet of dreams and dreamers.  Jupiter may drop some unexpected sugarplums in your lap this season.  Just be careful not to let a mistletoe moment go to your head.

This is a fun, high-energy moon that helps us manifest the goals we set in motion at the beginning of this month.  Consider December’s Full Moon a holiday gift from the Universe.  Enjoy!

Neptune Direct in Pisces - “The Difference Between Goals and Pipe Dreams”

#12, The Hanged Man is the
Tarot association for Neptune
from Stephanie Pui-Mun Law's
"Shadowscapes Tarot"©

Neptune is the planet of dreams and of dreamers.  It rules the twelfth house of the Zodiac, home of the sign, Pisces.  We store our subconscious and intuition in the twelfth house along with our affinity for self-delusion. (See blog: "The Sign of Pisces" )  That’s because illusion is the hallmark of Neptune’s influence.  If you are a Pisces or have Neptune in your birth chart, this planet can make you turn a blind eye to common sense and follow your pipe dreams right over a cliff.

Neptune entered retrograde on June 7th and remained there until November 13th. During the past five months we’ve all had an easier time seeing past the veil of illusion and maintaining enough objectivity to keep us from being swept away by the improbable. Oddly enough, Neptune’s retrograde periods provide clearer insights and more pragmatic thinking than when the planet is direct.  As a result, when Neptune resumes its forward momentum, we can all experience feeling a little unsettled and struggle with thoughts of disillusionment and dissatisfaction.

Still, there are lots of benefits we can glean from Neptune

direct – first and foremost, imagination.  ( See blog: "Astrological Trends June, 2013" ) Remember that what we perceive we can achieve.  It just takes planning and follow through.  Neptune direct helps us give voice to our inner-most dreams.  With Neptune’s help, we have a natural buoyancy – an optimism that helps us push past the skeptics in our lives.

How do we tell if we’re pipe dreaming or if we have a legitimate goal?  Simple.  A goal is always attainable.  When I was a child I read the myth of Icarus and wanted to build a pair of bird wings so I could fly.  Not a realistic goal and therefore a pipe dream.  But when you construct a light weight frame and attach aerodynamically feasible wings you get a hang-glider, or an ultra-light aircraft.  To build real wings – a pipe dream. To build simulated wings that are aerodynamically sound – a goal.

Goals must also have real and measurable results.  Orville and Wilbur Wright had many failed attempts before their initial success at flight, but they had one continuous thing that made them carry on in the face of countless setbacks – measurable progress.  Every inventor or innovator started out with a “what if” – Nikola Tesla, Steve Jobs, you name them.  What made them succeed was their commitment to results.

On November 17th we have a very powerful Full Moon arriving in Taurus.  It will be the perfect opportunity for you to manifest your dreams into reality.  Instead of focusing on the unattainable, like becoming the King or Queen of Ohio, stay reasonable, stay realistic and stay committed.  Once you commit to an attainable goal, the Universe will turn the cosmic tumblers any way it needs to in order to ensure your success.

Astrological Trends, November 2013 – "Turning Inward to Correct the Extreme"

The Empress rules Venus and with good reason.
She's grace, beauty, abundance and charm.
From "Steampunk Tarot"© by Barbara Moore
and Aly Fell

So far the November skies have been dominated by Scorpio.  This month’s energy has been deep, magnetic; filled with passionate emotion and mystery much like the infamous Zodiac sign itself.  Scorpio’s influence can make us soar like an eagle, or strike out in confusion and sting those around us.  The eighth house, residence of the scorpion, is the most intense place in the Zodiac.  It’s here where the mysteries of life, birth and death are stored.  (See Blog: “Sun In Scorpio”) The beginning of this month hasn’t been for the faint of heart.  We’ve had challenges: A powerful yod, the exact squaring of Uranus and Pluto and a New Moon with a hybrid solar eclipse attached to it. That’s only been in the first three days. ( See Blog: “New Moon in Scorpio" )

On November 5th Venus enters Capricorn where she stays until March 5th of 2014.  Beautiful Venus, becomes very grounded in Capricorn, embracing the practical in her nature. There’s very little fun and flirty energy here.  She wants us to seek loyal, honest partnerships that support us.  Venus expects to see proof of a deep, committed love before allowing us to give our hearts completely.  Once we have our proof though, Venus in Capricorn says this relationship is for keeps, so act accordingly.

Jupiter, the Santa Claus of the solar system, goes retrograde
#10, The Wheel rules Jupiter
and shows us how the turn of fate
expands our world one way or another.
Also from "Steampunk Tarot"©
on November 7th. This is the biggest change in astrological template this month and one of the most significant until early spring of 2014.  Jupiter carries an expansive energy when it’s direct.  Prior to its actual retrograde period there will be a general feeling of too much of a good thing.  Societally, individually and bureaucratically, there will be a sense that we’ve over-shot the mark, become too bloated and extreme in some ways.  Jupiter retrograde says slow down, perhaps even halt the expansion process outwardly to turn inside and work on inner growth.  Use #9, The Hermit as a focus for mediations. Also contemplate the Four of Swords to ease an overly busy mind.

Consider that if we don’t build a strong, inner support system, either personally or as a society, we are doomed to collapse in on ourselves.  It’s time to relearn (‘r’ word) the value of middle ground and release behaviors and ideals that have become too extreme, or too top-heavy to pass the tests of time and adversity.  Jupiter asks us to take our expansion inside to grow our consciousness, as well as our capacity for inner truth and compassion.  We can’t continue to expand our world unless we do a little inner re-tooling.  Again, we see the recurring theme for November of transforming and becoming something greater than the sum of the whole – synergy. Jupiter will be in retrograde until March 6, 2014.

#17, The Star is both hope and promise.
We can blend the elements of our world
for a successful life through the habit
of conscious living. From "Steampunk Tarot"©
Other high points this month include Mercury going direct on the 10th with Neptune following suit on the 13th. Chiron, our wounded healer also goes direct on the 19th just before the Sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd.  Our Full Moon in Taurus occurs on November 17th and Venus goes conjunct Pluto in Capricorn.  Pluto also squares off against Uranus in Aires as well. Whew!  There’s lots happening this month and most of it is set against the backdrop of Scorpio’s transformative energy.  This is a tremendous opportunity to ready ourselves for Jupiter’s expansion in the Spring.  I’ll be discussing the significance of the rest of these events as they draw closer. In the meantime, you have your assignments. Use the energy of early November to release, review, renew and revamp your thoughts and goals in preparation for a powerful Full Moon in Taurus.

March New Moon In Pisces - It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere

Everybody in the solar system wants to party with Pisces this New Moon.  Who can blame them? Pisces carries a wonderful, dreamy, creative energy that helps us envision possibilities.  There are six celestial bodies visiting Pisces right now:  The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Neptune.  That's a lot of company for one sign.  Better break out another bag of chips.  This New Moon, occurring on March 11th, at 3:51 PDT, is all about relaxing, surrendering control and going with the flow.

Pisces carries yin, or indirect feminine energy. Therefore it's not surprising that in terms of tarot numerology, the date, March 11, 2013 reduces to Major Arcana's #2, The High Priestess.  As an aspect of the Divine Feminine, our High Priestess represents unconscious thought and the intuitive process.  The next couple of days will be a good time to withdraw from outside influences and access your own intuition. Just remember to keep it light.

New Moons begin a fresh emotional cycle and the theme for March's New Moon in mutable Pisces is staying in the moment.  You'll find that it's particularly helpful to spend time in meditation, or meditative pursuits such as yoga, gardening, dance, or even basic coloring.  These sorts of activities cue both our mind and body to stay flexible, to refrain from judgment and to stop attaching ourselves to outcomes that really have nothing to do with us.

The Pisces New Moon invites us to come and play.  It reminds us that life is sometimes about silly, inconsequential things that give us joy.  We all need to take a break from our serious side every now and then.  Today's New Moon offers us that opportunity.  Accept the invitation and ask yourself, "What would Jimmy Buffet do?"

The Sign of Pisces - February 19th Through March 21st

On February 19th, the Sun enters the sign of Pisces and will
remain there until March 21st.  People born under the sign of Pisces are water babies and filter much of their life experience and intuition through their emotions.  The sign of Pisces is symbolized by two fish.  There’s a reason for using two fish when one would do.  Cancer has one crab and Scorpio, one scorpion.  The sign of Pisces exists has a natural duality.  It is ruled by two planets, Jupiter and Neptune and people born under this sign exist in two worlds - the world of their reality and the world of their illusions.  Often, they get lost between the two worlds.  Some astrologers theorize that Pisces, being the last sign of the zodiac year, borrows traits from all the other signs.  Note that it is in the twelfth house of the zodiac that astrologers look for secrets and secrets are intricate to the make up of a Pisces.

#18, The Moon is the tarot association
for the sign of Pisces. From
Corrine Kenner and John J. Blumen's
"Wizard's Tarot"©
Fish folk are the most mystically charged members of the zodiac.  They are both highly empathic and deeply spiritual.  On one hand, Piscesans give selflessly to friends and family - often too much and to your own detriment.  On the other hand, they guard their secrets within their emotional depths, sometimes making it difficult for non-fish people to understand their reasoning and motivations. When life become too difficult for them, Pisces retreats into silence - shutting down and shutting out the world.  They believe it’s easier that way.  Unfortunately, for these empathetic souls, their inward turns can too easily lead to depression, self-pity and lethargy.

Pisces draw their impressive creative power from Neptune, the planet of dreamers.  They do very well in both visual and performance arts.  In tarot, the sign Pisces is ruled by the Major Arcana card, # 18, The Moon.  This card serves to remind them that while it is easy for them to get lost in the world of illusion, they can use their inner guides and intuition to return to them to their life path and get moving again.  Their tendency towards self-sacrifice and being easily stagnated also comes from Neptune whose tarot card is #12, The Hanged Man.

#10, The Wheel of Fortune is
Jupiter's ruling card.  From US Games©
Jupiter, whose tarot card is #10, The Wheel of Fortune, offers Pisces the chance for growth and expansion of their real world.   Pisces, being highly intuitive, has the capacity to make their own luck.  It is when they are ungrounded (out of their tank?) that the Wheel takes a downward turn. If they follow tarot’s advise, stay on their path, don’t be distracted by the illusion and follow their intuition, they will be highly successful.

Neptune's tarot card, #12, The Hanged Man
from Stephanie Pui-Mun Law and Barbara
Moore's "Shadowscapes" ©
In relationships, fish folk do well with high-energy signs.  Fire signs are their opposite, but opposites attract. ( Aires, Leo, Sagittarius) Air signs also work. ( Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) Earth is not the natural state for Pisces.  These signs make it easy for them to surrender too much of themselves and their dreams. (Capricorn, Virgo and Taurus) Pisces must remember that they do not need to take second place to anyone.  As with everything in life, it is a matter of balance.  If you are fortunate enough to be in a relationship with highly imaginative, creative and compassionate Pisces, love them, care for them, but don’t drain their tank.

November 2012 - New Moon Eclipse In Scorpio

By now many of us have come to terms with the quirks of this month’s Mercury Retrograde.  We’re cleaning closets, revisiting plans and generally giving our lives a once over.

This Mercury Retrograde began the month in 6 degrees and 47 minutes of Sagittarius and will conclude on November 26th in passionate and mysterious Scorpio. 21 degrees and 57 minutes to be exact.  Certain astrological websites imply that Scorpio’s influence on the retrograde could cause old romances to rekindle.  If you’re going to rekindle anything - romantically speaking - make sure that it’s capable of sustaining the flame all on its own.  Words like ‘written in the stars’ make great song lyrics, but can ring a little hollow once the stars change their positions.  There was probably a good reason the relationship ended the first time around.

Let’s talk about what’s truly exciting this month - two, count ‘em, two eclipses.  November 13th is the New Moon and this month our lunar gal is bringing a solar eclipse with her as she tours the sign of Scorpio.  So hang on to your bootstraps, me Scorpion hearties.  This eclipse packs the power of 10 new moons.  Though we will all feel the burn on this one, you, dear Scorpio, are going to feel it burn all the way to your toes.

Scorpio is a sign of passionate focus and strong-willed determination.  This powerful new moon offers all of us the chance to set intentions and renew our relationships.  That’s what new moons do.  However, each of us must decide whether the power from this super charged new moon will have positive or negative consequences in our lives.  Scorpio is a sign of extremes.  This solar eclipse brings all of us the chance to transform our lives - a process natural to a Scorpio.  We can release the attitudes and beliefs that no longer serve the direction we wish our lives to take, or we can use the eclipse energy to fill ourselves with spite and a determination to redress old wrongs, whatever the cost.  Again, it’s our choice, but ask yourself, which scenario you think will serve you better in the long run.  We’ve all got a marvelous opportunity to release and renew on November 13th - perfect ‘r’ words, by the way for the retrograde period.
During the solar eclipse we will also be seeing a square between Mercury and Neptune.  As previously stated, the eclipse power will be either dark or light, depending on whether you choose to grow via release or to poison yourself with spite.  There may be times when you feel caught in a planetary tug of war between your higher self and your lowest impulses.  That’s the Neptune Mercury square.  Should this happen, beat a hasty retreat (another ‘r’ word for you) for some serious solitude.  If you can’t rise above your lower impulses, you don’t have to inflict them on others.  Meditate.  Stay holed up with your DVD player until you recover.  And remember, that’s why the Universe gave us cheesecake.

On November 16th Mars is in Capricorn and there will probably be an early morning uptick in the stock market as the war god flexes his muscle.  Mars, under Capricorn’s influence will bring out brisk efficiency in those wanting to hone their organizational skills.  In tarot readings, you want to pay particular attention to the appearance of Wands and Pentacles (elements of fire and earth) in your readings - especially the Ace or Page.  Both of these cards denote the introduction of an endeavor or the beginning of a creative period or process.  While you shouldn’t sign any contracts until after the 26th and the end of retrograde, take notice of the opportunities presenting themselves to you.  Mars reigns in Capricorn for six weeks.    You’ll have plenty of time to act on your opportunities after retrograde.  Just be sure you act.

I will be cover the Full Moon in Gemini and lunar eclipse on the 28th later this month.

Here’s a look at the cards for some of the players on the field this month.

CARD                                   RULES                                  MEANING

#13, Death                         Scorpio                           Transformation

#1  The Magician               Mercury                         Conscious Awareness, Directed Action

#12 The Hanged Man       Neptune                         Letting Go, Suspension

#2   The High Priestess    Moon                              Intuition

#16  The Tower                  Mars                               Sudden Change

#15  The Devil                    Capricorn                      Enslavement to the Material

#19  The Sun                      The Sun                         Enlightenment

#6    The Lovers                 Gemini                           Relationships, Values

# 21 The World                  Saturn                             Integration

As you can see, Mercury and Neptune really are giving us a tug in opposite directions.  You can also see the potential conflicts with Mars in Capricorn.  A sudden change is always particularly distressing when we focus only on the material in life.  Luckily, Saturn, though a tough taskmaster, is in Scorpio.  This means that the lessons we learn help us integrate the various parts of ourselves, allowing for growth as we move closer towards the Sun, or, enlightenment.  Simple, right?  I don’t know about that.  Until I master that whole growth/transformation thing I’m laying in an extra supply of cheesecake.
