October 8, 2014, Full Moon in Aries – “Throttle Wide Open”

On October 8th at 3:51 a.m. PDT, our Full Moon in 15
Here's a look at the players in this month
Full Moon cycle
degrees of Aries arrives opposite Sun in Libra.  October’s Full Moon is commonly called the Hunter’s Moon and this year we’ll experience a more supped up version because of additional factors. This full moon also brings us a full lunar eclipse featuring that much hyped, notorious portent of doom, “Blood on the Moon.” (See blog: "Here's Blood In Your Eye"  ).  Adding to this already super charged mix is a giant kite in the sky called a Grand Fire Trine. Did I say, ‘super charged?’ Add words like erratic and unstable as well, my friends, because the Moon will also be conjunct with Uranus.

This full Moon in Aries is a moon of extremes, or polar opposites.  Think about what causes the visual effect of a full moon.  The Sun is actually in opposition to the Moon.  Herein lies the difficulty.  Aries is the first sign in the zodiac. It rules the first house where we store our concept of self, our personality and our childhood associates.  Aries is an assertive sign that doesn’t mince words or wait to take action.  It is mostly concerned with its own goals and needs – not your basic team player.

Libra on the other hand, where our sun currently resides, lives in the seventh house and is concerned with relationships.  Libra seeks to balance through negotiation and compromise while Aries says, “Get out of my way, this is about me.” Here we find the classic struggle to establish a balance point between self-interest and concern for others. Even the most enlightened of us is likely to have moments during the next two weeks where we ask ourselves, “Did I really just say that?”  Conversely, the most intrepid and independent souls can suddenly take up a career as a doormat. Balance people, balance.

The fiery configuration in the sky pouring metaphorical gasoline on this already volatile mix is the Grand Fire Trine between Uranus in Aries, Jupiter in Leo and Mars in Sagittarius. Trines are a harmonious aspect of 120 degrees between planets. However, this trine also continues themes regarding self-interest and broad, sweeping actions.  Uranus in Aries conjunct Moon in Aries suggests that if in our haste we’ve already tossed the baby out with the bath water, we might as well continue and throw out the tub as well.  Who cares where it lands. Here’s where we need to focus on Libra’s gifts.  Venus is at her most gracious now.  She rules Libra where she’s currently in residence, gifting us with a sense of harmony and grace. Concentrate on that image of charm and beauty.

While the power from our full moon lunar eclipse highlights

the conflict between self and others, it also releases an extra burst of intuition and creativity as well.  This is a good time to release blocks that have kept you from completing, or even progressing on creative projects.  Spend extra time centering yourself and above all, think before you speak.  Mercury is in retrograde in Scorpio and communications are not only slightly off kilter, but more acerbic as well.  Think three times before speaking.  Don’t react, respond.

This is an emotional Full Moon, no doubt about it.  It is extremely easy for things to be said and actions to be taken during the next couple of weeks that will have far reaching consequences.  October’s Full Moon in Aries is not a moon for complacency, nor is it a moon for arrogance.  It’s easy to get glib when we talk about utilizing the energy from astrological configurations to assist us in accomplishing our goals.  It’s a happy, bouncy message, but we should always be respectful of the forces at work around us.   Stay balanced, stay reverent during this Full Moon cycle.

The Full Moon lunar eclipse begins at 1:17 a.m. PDT with the main event beginning at 3:27 and reaching totality at 4:22 a.m.  The eclipse completes at 6:32 a.m.  If you live on the west coast of the United States, or in the Pacific, it will be quiet a show. I posted a couple of links following this blog about the transits involved in the Grand Fire Trine.  If you have any questions, please email me at ladyoracle56@yahoo.com

January 30, 2014, New Moon in Aquarius - Merging Creativity and Individualism

#17, The Star - Ciro Marchetti's
concept that represents the
magical individualism of our New Moon in Aquarius
from "Legacy of the Divine Tarot"©
On January 30th, at 1:39 P.M., PST, we have our second New Moon of the month occurring in 10 degrees, 55 minutes of Aquarius, Water Bearer.  The other super cool thing about this New Moon is that it’s also a Super Moon.  You may recall that Super Moon is a somewhat freshly coined term referring to a moon that presents at 90% perigee (the lunar position closest to us).  Five Moons in 2014 carry the designation of Super Moon.  January’s New Moon in Capricorn was the first, and the second largest, January 30th’s will be the three largest.  The other epic perigee months this year are July, August and September.

The lunar influences are much stronger when the Moon is at perigee. Tides react, but so does the human body because, as adults, we are composed of between fifty-five and sixty-five percent water.  You’ll definitely feel the pull from this New Moon.  Just be careful if it tells you to swim up stream to spawn.  Cut yourself a little extra slack on the 28th and 29th.  This is time for the Dark of the Moon and if we have a Super New Moon, it only stands to reason that we can experience a Super Dark of the Moon that leaves us feeling unsettled, or carrying some free floating anxiety.  These feelings are a normal part of the New Moon reboot process. Honor them with your favorite flavor of Ben and Jerry’s® ice cream and a movie night.

Do you feel as if the month of January has already been three month’s long?
That’s Cardinal Grand Cross energy for you.  Are you tired yet?  If so, you’re not alone. If not, just wait until our New Moon in Aquarius gets under way.  New moons set a new emotional tempo for the coming lunar cycle.  They are also a time to take stock and change it up if anything needs changing up.  New Moon in Aquarius celebrates the individual in all of us and January’s second New Moon joins with this month’s cardinal energy to tell us that as individuals, we get to make a few of our own rules along the way.  Think James T. Kirk, reprograming the computer for the Kobayashi Maru.

The 30th is a great time to work on ending your dependency

on other people’s good opinion of you, their advice, or their control over you.  This New Moon is about detaching from people and situations that trap us. Aquarius demands extra freedom and a respite from strong emotion during this New Moon, so be respectful of boundaries, yours and other people’s.  Our rewards for successfully harnessing the super energy of the 30th will be new-found idealism, enhanced intuition and creativity.  On the darker side, if you ignore Aquarius’ positive message, you’re apt to become dogmatic in your thinking, touchy and more blunt than normal, particularly if you have Moon in Aquarius in your birth chart.

This New Moon is an excellent time is reset your goals and make adjustments to them.  Remember that Venus goes direct on the 31st and Mercury turns retrograde February 6th.  Have a great New Moon!

July 22, 2013, Full Thunder Moon in Aquarius - “The Eagle has Landed”

Our Full Moon in July is called the Full Thunder Moon or Full Buck Moon.  These names come down to us from Native American tribes who noted that July heralded the beginning of the summer thunder storms.  They also observed that July was the time that young male deer, or bucks, started growing their antlers.

This year’s Full Thunder Moon happens in zero degrees and six seconds of Aquarius.  The neat thing about having a July Full Moon in zero degrees Aquarius is that August’s Full Moon will also be Aquarian at 29

degrees.  Aquarius carries an intellectual energy that emboldens the independent thinker in all of us.  We hankers for freedom and variety in our lives.  The Water Bearer’s house is ruled by Uranus, planet of revolutionary, societal change.  It’s also interesting to note that the tarot card for Uranus is The Fool (beginnings, spontaneity) and that the card for Aquarius is The Star (hope, inspiration).

Under the influence of July’s Full Moon, we’ll see some dynamic breakthroughs for people who’ve done their homework during the past couple of months.  If you’ve used the power of this month’s Grand Water Trine to release and redirect your life – no matter how seemingly small the changes – you’ll be soaring just like Aquila, Zeus’ trusty eagle of legend. ( see Eta Aquarids blog) This is exciting stuff because these changes will be far-reaching and lifelong.

Also on the 22nd, Venus enters the sign of Virgo. This is Venus at her most practical and discerning.  Venus has much to offer and she wears it with confidence. She knows what she wants and it’s not just some flash in the pan sort of romance.  We’ll all be seeking the deeper meaning of the word, ‘relationship.’  Male or female, Venus in Virgo tells us to seek true depth of character in a partner.  “Faint heart never won fair maid (or male for that matter).”

The Thunder Moon is still at perigee (closer to Earth in its orbit) this month and you’ll continue to hear the term, ‘super moon’ used. Check out "June’s Full Strawberry Moon," blog for more complete information on the term. The important thing to remember, however, is that July’s Full Moon is pretty powerful.  It will be 12 percent larger and 26 percent brighter than a regular Full Moon. No need for night vision goggles on the 22nd, that’s for sure.  Remember to manifest, people.  As an added perk, Lady Moon rises as the sun sets this month and she may well cloak herself in sunset colors - rosy pink, lavender or even orange.  Go somewhere with that certain someone and enjoy a quiet, romantic picnic as you watch the moonrise.

Full Strawberry Moon At Perigee, June 23, 2013 - Super Trooper

The Moon from Corrine Kenner's
"Wizard's Tarot," illustrated by
John J. Blumen

If you’ve been checking out the web for information on this month’s Full Strawberry Moon, you’ve may have heard the term, “Super Moon” bandied about. Although Super Moon may sound more like the title of a cheesy disaster movie, it actually refers to the Moon at perigee, or more commonly, the closest point to Earth during the lunar orbit.  The Moon reaches perigee four to six times per year. On June 23rd at 7:32 a.m., EDT, our Full Strawberry Moon will be at perigee in 2° of Capricorn.  What makes this Full Moon so super is that this will be the closest the Moon will be to Earth until August, 2014.

The Strawberry Moon occurs two days after Summer Solstice while the Sun still appears to be at a standstill over the Tropic of Cancer. (See blog: “Get Ready, Get Set, Get Solstice”) Our Sun is in the sign of Cancer on the 22nd, opposite a Full Moon in Capricorn.  A Capricorn Moon runs a little cooler than some moons, its energy a little more withdrawn and self-contained.  This is not bad with the over-abundance of crab energy out there.  The house of Cancer the Crab is ruled by the Moon and the downside to the crab’s energy is that it can become very touchy, even volatile.

Full Moons bring fruition both romantically and materially.  June’s Full Moon will be like riding love’s roller-coaster.  Venus is parallel with Mars on June 21st and 22nd, giving us quite a build up for the 23rd.  The romantic highs and lows could be fast and furious under the Strawberry Moon. Even if we’re reasonably certain where our relationships are headed we could find ourselves unexpectedly tossed in the opposite direction.  Luckily, Moon in Capricorn draws power for handling challenges through Saturn, Capricorn’s ruling planet. The Goat naturally strives for success in a variety of areas under the Moon’s influence and this should temper Cancer’s effects on our emotions.  Despite a swiftly changing emotional landscape however, the next couple of weeks can be extremely passionate and romantic.  Just stay grounded and remember June’s recurring theme of creating more authentic communication in your life.

Speaking of communications, Mercury remains in Cancer until August 8th and the Full Moon intensifies our mission to explore deeper levels of knowledge. This is also the last push to solidify our communications skills before Mercury Retrograde begins at the end of the month, so pay attention.  Saturn in Scorpio helps us remain pragmatic and if we allow it, we’ll be guided to release issues and habits that no longer serve us.

This is an important Full Moon and its effects will be with us for a while. It will be an excellent time for healing, abundance and prosperity work, as well as setting magical intention.  However, it’s very important that both you and your space are grounded and cleared before you attempt working with this powerful Moon’s energy.  A little effort goes a long way.  Ground yourself and enjoy the mystical connection between Earth and sky that is June’s Full Moon in Capricorn.
